LAWLiS Legal
Returns & Refunds Policy
Version 2026-08 · Effective 28 August 2026
LAWLiS provides a marketplace return workflow so Riders, Partners and LAWLiS can record evidence, review a return and settle an approved refund transparently. This policy does not reduce rights provided by applicable South African consumer law.
1. Starting a return
Use the return option linked to the relevant LAWLiS order and provide the requested reason, description and supporting evidence. Keep the product, packaging, accessories and proof relevant to the claim until the return is resolved.
2. Incorrect, damaged, unsafe or defective goods
If goods are incorrect, damaged, unsafe, defective or otherwise fail to meet applicable legal standards, the Rider may have statutory remedies. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, remedies can include repair, replacement or refund. LAWLiS and the Partner will not use this policy to contract out of non-excludable consumer rights.
3. Change-of-mind and other returns
A change-of-mind return is not automatically available in every circumstance. Any statutory cooling-off or return right that applies to a particular transaction remains available. Where LAWLiS or a Partner voluntarily offers an additional return right, the conditions presented with that offer will apply subject to law.
4. Return review
The relevant Partner may review the request and evidence and provide a recommendation. LAWLiS retains the marketplace settlement and dispute workflow so the final recorded outcome, Rider refund and Partner liability can be administered consistently.
5. Shipping and return costs
Responsibility for return transport depends on the reason for return, the circumstances and applicable law. LAWLiS will not automatically charge a Rider return costs where the law places those costs on the supplier.
6. Refund calculation
An approved refund may include the product amount and, where applicable, shipping. LAWLiS records the Rider-facing refund separately from the financial allocation between LAWLiS and the Partner. Internal allocation does not reduce the amount lawfully due to the Rider.
7. Refund timing
Once a refund is approved and processed, the time until funds are visible may depend on the production payment provider and financial institution. Specific payment-provider timing will be published when the live gateway is activated.
8. Evidence retention
Return evidence is retained while a return is active. LAWLiS applies a defined deletion lifecycle after a final refunded or rejected outcome, subject to legal, security and backup obligations.
Pre-launch legal draft: This policy must be reviewed against the final product categories and fulfilment model before public launch.
